Toro y Moi returns with a new album called Boo Boo.
Toro y Moi is known for some songs like “So Many Details”.
So with Boo Boo releasing many were looking forward to what is next.
Stand out songs “Mirage”, “Don’t Try”, “No Show”, “W.I.W.W.T.W.” and “Mona Lisa”.
Possibly my favorite song on the album, “No Show”, Toro y Moi starts off his lyrics with,
Been a while since I been home
It took a second ’cause my baby don’t know—I
Been so hesitant, I’m such a no show—why?
My baby got fed up with my ego
Oh—wasn’t even thinkin’ we were going worldwide
Figured it was better than the southern life
Sets a good tone for Boo Boo. Music production is full of vibes which carry throughout the whole album. “No Show” chorus sticks out like a sore thumb and vibrates throughout your ears. Something about being honest with you current mindset and where you don’t want to be, musically sound good.
“W.I.W.W.T.W.” which stands for, What Is Wrong With This World? stated in the hook. “W.I.W.W.T.W.” has two parts, first part sung by Toro y Moi himself and the other sung by Madeline Kenney. Toro y Moi is going through pain in “W.I.W.W.T.W.”. Statements of regret and mixed emotions are clearly stated and make the song come alive. Madeline Kenney’s voice sets up a good exit for the album as well.
Toro y Moi self-reflects in “Mona Lisa”. Toro y Moi talks about himself and a woman that is leaving so it seems. The beat is funky and will get you moving.
Chaz B. also known as Toro y Moi has done an amazing job with this album. My peer has said it has an 80’s feel, something you can drive to California or Florida too. I want to give Boo Boo a 4 out of 5 TAU symbols. Music was made amazingly and can be played at a small party or by yourself when your thinking about life.
If you haven’t heard the album below is the album stream check it out now before it is taken down. Sidenote Travis Scott and Toro y Moi have worked together before in the past in case this sounds familiar.
